Gift a plan
—
Gifting is the only way an account gets a tier, a hub or a single app without
a payment, so every gift is written to a ledger with who granted it, what it
granted, and whether the uuid and email were actually checked against the
directory at the time.
Both fields are required: the email is what makes a mistyped uuid noticeable
later, when the only other evidence is a stranger holding a plan.
A hub is not a rung on the student ladder — granting one does not have to
move the tier, and "No tier change" is the usual choice for a business.
Nothing is charged. Existing paid time is extended, never replaced,
and a hub is added to whatever the account already holds.
Student Boost
—
A domain listed here lets anybody holding an address at it claim the
Educational tier free, so every entry is a key to the building. Read the
name against the domain and the website before confirming: nothing emails
that address — there is no mail sender in this project — so it proves
nothing on its own and is evidence for you, not a credential.
A rejection reason is kept here and never reaches the applicant.
Confirmed institutions
Add an institution yourself
No application needed. A domain listed here lets anybody holding an
address at it claim the Educational tier, so it is the same key to the
building — read the name against the domain before you add it.
The lists below each change what the registry does, and this
is the only place to set them.
The professional signal on a teacher declaration. Most schools have none.
Alumni addresses that outlive the study. Blocked always wins.
What turns a Microsoft sign-in from this school into an automatic grant.
The same for Google Workspace — the hd claim, not the address.
Students at it can claim Educational from the moment you press this.
Signed in, not listed
—
Every row here is a verified sign-in — the provider
confirmed the person and the tenant, we simply have no institution on
file for it. Linking a tenant to a confirmed institution makes every
future sign-in from that school an automatic Educational grant, so
link it to the right one: the tenant is the key to the
building. If the institution is not on the list at all yet, confirm it
in the section above first — this only attaches a tenant to a school
somebody has already checked.
Add a student yourself
For a student whose details reached you some other way — they emailed, or you know them. Grants Educational until the next annual check,
the same as a verified one — but recorded as added by you, not verified,
because nobody checked it.
The evidence you were shown. Nothing is emailed to it, and it is
recorded as unverified.
Empty = the next annual check, same as everyone else.
Nothing is charged. A higher plan they already hold is never overwritten.
Which door
—
The suite an account lands in is decided from what it holds and
what its address is, in that order — a purchase outranks a mail
domain. The reason is shown beside the answer,
because a guess and a fact need different things from whoever is
reading a complaint.
Both open in a new tab, at the real prefix, signed in as you.
Nothing is impersonated — this is the door, not somebody
else's account.
Teachers
—
Approving one writes Student Boost, not the Educational
tier — this is the bigger grant, so read it harder. The two signals under
each name are computed here, never submitted: whether the address is on a
staff subdomain the institution declared, and whether the staff page is
even hosted on a domain that institution owns. Neither is proof.
Open the staff page and look for their name — it is the
only field that is evidence rather than testimony. Revoking later drops
them to Educational rather than to free, because the institution still
says they are there.
Add a teacher yourself
For a teacher you have already satisfied yourself about, without them filling in the declaration. Grants Student Boost until the next annual check,
the same as a verified one — but recorded as added by you, not verified,
because nobody checked it.
The declaration itself. Fill in what you have — it lands in
Teachers → Approved with these fields, which is what
makes it revocable and what next year's reviewer reads.
Nothing is charged. A higher plan they already hold is never overwritten.
Roster
—
Load an institution's own list of its teachers or its students.
Nothing is created and no mail is sent — the import
writes the set and hands back one claim link for the institution to send
through its own channels. The link alone grants nothing: an address still
has to be on the list, so it can go to a whole mailing list safely.
Addresses are stored as hashes, never as addresses. A
roster is thousands of real people's email addresses and it is the
institution's data to lose, not ours — so it cannot be read back
here, or anywhere. The only question it can answer is whether one
address you already have is on it.
Nothing pasted yet.
This replaces the roster of that kind. Rows the
new file no longer carries are given a date rather than removed,
so a bad export does not cut anybody off the day it is made.
Support
—
Paste the account's id and, if they named one, the feature they say is
locked. The answer comes from the gate itself, not from a
second calculation — a support screen that works out its own verdict
can agree with itself and disagree with the product, which is worse than
no screen at all.
Anything that could not be read is named rather than left
blank. “They hold nothing” and “we could not ask”
look identical and mean opposite things.
