Contributor Compensation Model

This document outlines the structured 3-phase compensation system for Ranchie DevOps contributors. All calculations follow transparent revenue-sharing principles with clear milestones.

Year 1: Volunteer & Recognition Phase

Duration: First 12 Months

Recognition Benefits

  • Public recognition on website and in-app credits
  • Portfolio rights to showcase completed work
  • Priority consideration for revenue-share phase

  • Contributor profile on "Team & Contributors" page

Learning Benefits

  • Hands-on experience with production code

Milestone Requirements

  • Minimum 20 contribution points per quarter
  • Active participation in team communications
  • Completion of onboarding tasks
  • Regular code contributions (minimum 1 PR/month)
  • Positive peer reviews

Years 2-3: Revenue Share Phase

Duration: 24 Months • 2% Annual Pool

Revenue Sharing

  • 2% of product's net revenue reserved annually
  • Distributed among active contributors
  • Quarterly payouts (when threshold reached)
  • Transparent revenue reporting
  • Performance-based allocation

Calculation Method

  • Each contributor earns points per completed task
  • Revenue share = (Your Points ÷ Total Points) × Pool
  • Points tracked in contributor dashboard
  • Real-time earnings visibility
  • Historical performance analytics

Eligibility Requirements

  • Successful completion of Year 1 requirements
  • Minimum 40 points per quarter
  • Consistent code quality standards
  • Active in team planning and reviews
  • Signed Contributor Agreement

Revenue Share Formula

Your Quarterly Share = (Your Points ÷ Total Active Points) × (2% × Quarterly Net Revenue)
Example Calculation:
1. Quarterly Net Revenue: $50,000
2. 2% Pool: $1,000 (2% of $50,000)
3. Your Points: 150
4. Total Active Points: 1,500
5. Your Share: (150 ÷ 1,500) × $1,000 = $100
6. Minimum Payout Threshold: $50 (payout occurs)

Year 4+: Long-term Core Contributor

Duration: Ongoing • 5% Annual Pool

Enhanced Benefits

Contribution Points System

Tasks are assigned 1-5 points based on complexity, scope, and impact. Points are awarded when code is merged and deployed to production.

Points Calculation: Points are assigned during task creation and confirmed upon completion. Team leads review and approve point allocations. All points are tracked in the Contributor Dashboard with full transparency and auditability.

Payout & Payment Information

Global Payments • Multiple Methods

Payout Schedule

  • Quarterly Payouts: March 31, June 30, September 30, December 31
  • Minimum Threshold: $50 USD per payout period
  • Processing Time: 7-14 business days after quarter end
  • Reporting: Detailed breakdown emailed before payout
  • Tax Documentation: 1099 for US contractors, invoices for others

Payment Methods

  • PayPal: Available worldwide (2.9% + $0.30 fee)
  • Wise: Bank transfers (0.4-1% fee)
  • Bank Transfer: Direct to account (varies by country)
  • Crypto (USDC): Polygon network (~1% fee)
  • Check: Available for US contributors

  • Open to developers worldwide
  • Independent contractor status required
  • Must comply with local tax regulations
  • All currencies converted to USD
